Your foie gras story reminded me of the time I spent as an immersion student in France. My Norwegian roommate and I visited the foie-making town of Sarlat. We purchased an tiny $11 can of foie gras, and a fresh baguette. Back in our hostel, we cranked open the can and instantly, a gorgeous whiff of foie gras hit our noses. I still salivate at the memory of a pat of foie on a soft piece of baguette. Heaven.
