I had no idea that Montreal was onto dark dining! I recently had the experience of doing this in Berlin and it was something that I recommend to those who perhaps don't suffer from claustrophobia. I was forced to concentrate on the food as a result of dining in the dark. The first 5 min. were unnerving, I felt I was drowning in discussions. Then, I had difficulty figuring how how big the piece of meat I had on my fork. As a result, my cheeks were smeared with sauce! Most of us resorted to slurping our bowls of soup, too. It was fun and fascinating. jc

As soon as I read this article, I thought of the "in the dark" restaurant in Berlin. It seems to be catching on here, I heard that they've opened another similar restaurant in two other cities of Germany (hmm, Cologne perhaps?) Does anyone know?? Anyhow, I've never "done it" but can definitely see the attraction!
cheers
Amanda

The original post I found only mentioned Zurich. For an excellent post on the experience (which I've not really had yet) see I was just really very hungry.

I can try to gather more info if you'd like? Are you specifically interested in Germany?

I know it started in Europe, I think there are a few cities that have such restaurants. I'm sure the experience is enlightening. (I'm amazed at how many sight-based metaphors keep suggesting themselves!)
