I was interested in your piece on the Westin in Providence. It is one of three restaurants I know in the city whose chefs have a serious commitment to using locally grown ingredients.

You might be interested in a progam in Rhode Island called Farm Fresh RI. Their website http://www.farmfreshri.org shows what is in season and where you can pick your own or buy fresh from the farm or at a farmers market. Each farm has a page, and some of them have really interesting profiles done by a food writer with a passion for local farms. They are well-written and capture the spirit of people for whom raising or growing food is more than just a way to earn a living. Not all farms have profiles yet, but it's worth clicking through the list of farms to find those that do. They are adding about three a week, so it's worth going back to. I don't live in Rhode Island, but I find this a very intersting site filled with good reading about food producers.
