Here in Halifax, many pizza places also sell "donairs," a popular take-out item made of spicy meat with tomatoes and onions in flatbread that my widely travelled kids tell me is unique to us (in fact, when I visited my daughter in Scotland, she BEGGED me to bring her one!). Donairs come dripping with a creamy, white, slightly sweet sauce. Pizza sales side by side with donairs seems to have started something new - pizza with donair sauce! (You dip.) To try it, you might have to come to Halifax.

I loved Halifax on my one trip long ago. My husband and I have the whole Cape Breton, PEI, Nova Scotia trip "OTL" (on the list)

Wikipedia lists donairs as a turkish shwarma, not at all what you describe? Donair sauce may be like a tsatsiki sauce (greek yogurt, dill, cucumber, onion,garlic) served with shawarma sandwich? So intrigued and confused.
