Well, it's done! I have to admit I wimped out on the fresh fruit, although why must be sheer laziness on my part, since fresh organic produce is always readily available here in SoCal. I looked for small Maine berries at your suggestion, and I used a premixed 1/2 sugar, 1/2 Splenda for the added sweetness. No leaf lard. But the pie and crust? It came out GREAT and the kids gobbled it up. Thank you so much -- now all I need is a follow-up recipe for how to get blueberry stains out of kids' clothes. (Oxyclean to the rescue!)
