» DevorahStone - Getting it Fresh

Whenever possible I shop at farmer's markets getting the freshest produce. It does make a difference. I also buy local whenever possible. I ask about local produce. I'm willing to pay more for real taste and that wonderful fresh smell.

As for Walmart selling organic - that's actually good, its better than them not selling it.

I do agree our farmers are getting the bad end of the stick.

I also love the good fresh ideas and info I get from the local farmers. They enjoy having face to face contact with their consumers, too. It's such a great addition to the city's lifestyle, too. Think of the market in Seattle, Montreal, Paris, there's a small vocal contingent in Boston lobbying for the same. Fingers crossed.

For the Greek salad, try Japanese cucumbers if you can find them. They are small, sweet, seedless. The skin is tender and they are the best overall cuke I've found.
