Just returning from a non-stop feast of food and good times on Nantucket (more on that later), I spot a post on Chowhound.com entitled Random Act of Kindness. It's an interesting story and reminds me that we here in North America, often overlook the joy to be found in openness. We're so often looking for a return on our gesture, which completely misses the point in my opinion.
It reminds me of the time a stranger gave me a pint of his beloved, local peach ice cream, which he could only get in Philadelphia. He had packed a few pints in dry ice to take home when he'd had the occasion to be in Philadelphia on business. As we talked about food and about ice cream, he reached into his bag and insisted I take a pint of his treasured peach ice cream with me!
